D. Introduction of JETPVm Certification Scheme
Back

What is JET PVm Certification Service?
This certification service is aimed to ascertain the reliability and the safety of Photovoltaic (PV) module and to support wide application and usage of PV system in the field and thus to serve to customers.

This certification service is conducted upon requests from either manufacturer, a trading company or an importer (inclusive of overseas applicant). Certification will be issued for products of each model, after successful certification testing and factory inspection of its quality assurance system.

The merit of the JETPVm certification service
Customer’s credibility to the product certified increases, as the product which bears PVm certification labels indicate it satisfied the certification criteria through third party testing.

What is JETPVm certification label?
The label objectively and fairly states the product is considered safe for consumers through quality maintenance of the manufacturers and through the passing of many safety certification tests carried out by JET.

Products applicable to the JETPVm certification service
Crystalline silicon and thin-film PV modules which are designed for application in terrestrial PV power generation systems except concentrator type systems and manufactured for sales purpose.

Methods of JETPVm certification service
Certification is made for each model of modules. Certification is issued for the module applied after testing the module to confirm their conformity to the requirements of the standards and inspecting the factory to confirm whether their manufacturing and quality control system are properly established and maintained. Validity of certification is three years. Once registered, the factories are then regularly inspected in order to retain model certification.

Application
Customers are required to fill out the application form prepared by JET. JET accepts the application after confirming the entries of forms and test samples required for the test.

Certification tests
Certification tests are carried out on the samples which are at the same level as the products shipped with JETPVm certification labels.
For the module which has similar specification as those certified before, JET only carries out those tests that are necessary, depending upon the difference between the applied one and those already registered.

Factory inspection
Factory inspections are consist of the Initial factory inspection (carried out simultaneously with the certification test) and the regular factory inspection.
Initial factory inspection is carried out to assure the manufacturing system can supply the products submitted for registration at a stable pace and a high degree of quality. Regular factory inspection is performed for the purpose of follow up.

Fees for certification
Fees required for certification basically consist of test fee, factory inspection fee, registration fee and certification label fee.

Changes after certification
Customers are required to fill in the form “Notice for modification to certified entries of PV module”

Withdrawal or cancellation of certification
When a customer wished to withdraw the certification, application by submitting the form “Notice for cancellation” is required.
Certification may be cancelled, even within the valid period, if the requirements set forth in the Rules for JETPVm certification are neglected.
